THE SIXTH BRITISH CARP STUDY GROUP BOOK

BCSG launched their sixth book, a hard-back limited edition. It has been sixteen years since the last BCSG Book was published and this exciting and magnificently presented new hardback book with 430 pages and full colour photographs is edited by Group Chairman Ken Dallow and former Group Secretary John Abbotts. Special introductory price at the show.

Articles and contributions from Chris Ball, Nigel Cobham, Terry Eustace, Harry Haskell, Lee Jackson,  Richard Morris, George Sharman, Alan Taylor,  Les Watts, Chris Woodrow and many other Group Members.

Also included is a recent interview with carp fishing icon Peter Springate, a true carp angling craftsman who is still as enthusiastic today as he was thirty years ago when he first joined the BCSG.  There is also a section of the book devoted to extracts from the Group's Rotary letters, which is full of technical and informative discussions.

The overall mix of material strikes a balance between technical subjects and carp fishing stories, some amusing and some nostalgic, in an effort to publish a work that carp anglers of all ages and experience will enjoy.  It is already on the “must read list” of many Carp anglers.

First arrivals queue for entry, and below, Luke off for a quick cuppa?

Another great weekend. Reports from the major retailers at the end all told us that it was the best show they had been at all year. Alongside the retailers the bait companies were very popular as were those anglers seeking out the best holiday deals with the ever growing band of carpers seeking the magic mix of sun and a ‘fifty’.

It was good to see so many new books being published this year with Medlar, Mpress and Bob Buteux launching some superb productions. Barrie Rickards’ biography of Dick Walker was rather special and we were also honoured with a visit on both days from Pat Walker who signed many copies of Barrie’s marvellous book on a true angling legend.

Celebs galore of course and acquaintances renewed, great atmosphere, and a pleasant reminder that our show is also is a major part of bringing together the angling experience.

We’ll be doing again next year - dates are 29/30 November 2008 at Sandown of course.
